North Alabama Man Killed In Birmingham Shooting
A 25-year-old man from Florence was shot and killed Sunday morning after an altercation at a night club.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a homicide that took place outside a Birmingham night club just after midnight Sunday. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Fredrick Asher of Florence.
Sgt. Johnny Williams of the Birmingham PD said officers from the West Precinct responded to a call of shots fired at #7 15th Street West just after midnight Sunday morning. Upon arrival, officers reportedly located three victims suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
Williams said a fourth victim — later identified as Asher — was found to have suffered a life threatening injury and was transported to UAB hospital by Birmingham Fire & Rescue for treatment. Approximately two hours later, investigators received information that the victim had succumbed to his injury and was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

Williams said investigators later received additional information that a fifth victim arrived at the hospital suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. All remaining victims are expected to recover from their injuries, according to law enforcement officials.
Investigators found that the shooting occurred after patrons were made to leave the club after a fight. Police say the suspects drove past the location in a dark vehicle and began to fire at patrons as they stood in the parking lot.

There are no suspects in custody.
