One Dead After Shooting At Birmingham Public Housing Community
A shooting Monday morning at the Morton Simpson Village complex ended with one victim dead.
BIRMINGHAM, AL - A shooting Monday morning at the Morton Simpson Village complex in Birmingham ended with one victim dead. The incident occurred just after 9 a.m. in the 4500 block of Ninth Avenue North .
Police received reports of gunfire around 9:15 Monday morning, and when they arrived on the scene, they found the victim one street over on a sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An Alabama Media Group report said there had been reports of about 15 shots fired in Morton Simpson Sunday night, and investigators were trying to determine whether the shootings were linked in any way. An acquaintance of the victim said he was at Morton Simpson Monday morning to meet his father to go to work when someone walked up to him and opened fire.
