1 Dead After Shooting In Southtown Housing Community

One victim is dead after a shooting in Birmingham's Southtown housing community Tuesday night.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The Birmingham Police Department reported a homicide in the Southtown housing community Tuesday night. One victim was found dead from a gunshot wound when police arrived just before 10 p.m.

Sgt. Johnny Williams of the Birmingham PD said a call into the BPB South Precinct of shots fired came in at 9:30 p.m., and officers arrived and observed the deceased person lying on the ground unresponsive in the rear of an apartment complex.

Police say the victim was shot in the head. The victim has been identified as Johnny Wayne Mann, 44, from Mulga. There are no suspects in custody at this time.
