Piggly Wiggly Employee Shot And Killed Inside Store
A female employee of a Piggly Wiggly grocery store in Birmingham was shot and killed inside the store Monday.
BIRMINGHAM, AL - Unfortunately for Birmingham residents, Christmas Eve has been mired by another homicide, as reports from Birmingham police say a female employee of a local Piggly Wiggly grocery store was shot and killed inside the store Monday.
The shooting occurred at roughly 12:15 p.m. inside the Piggly Wiggly off 29th Ave North in Birmingham. Police say they identified the victim as 28-year-old Jerika Manuel. A report by Alabama Media Group said someone entered the store and “started an altercation” with Manuel who was then fatally shot.

Police did confirm that they have information leading to a suspect, but have not released the identity of the suspect.
This is the 105th homicide in Birmingham in 2018.
