BIRMINGHAM, AL - A new plasma donation center is opening in the Birmingham area this weekend. BioLife Plasam Services is planning a grand opening Saturday, May 18 at its new center on Lakeshore Parkway.

This opening will further expand BioLife’s presence in the area, will employ about 40 members of the community and will advance efforts to support patients who rely on the therapies processed from donated human plasma.

The grand opening of the new center is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m at 259 Lakeshore Parkway Suite E. The new facility will provide the same benefits found at other BioLife locations, such as access to free Wi-Fi, a free supervised playroom for donors’ children and a clean, professional, smoke-free environment.

"BioLife’s new Birmingham center marks our continued commitment to serving the larger Alabama community, as well as the patients who rely on plasma to survive," said John Skidmore, center manager of the new Birmingham location. "By donating, you will not only be compensated for your time, but you’ll also have a direct impact on patients’ lives."

To help protect the safety of the donor and the recipients of the therapies processed from their plasma, prospective donors must first pass a medical examination and complete a medical history survey. Donors are financially compensated for their time and commitment to the program. For more information on the donation process and to locate additional centers, please visit the BioLife website.
