Police Chase Ends In Downtown Birmingham With Injuries, Arrest
A police chase that began in Irondale ended in downtown Birmingham with multiple victims injured and a suspect arrested.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — A police chase that began in Irondale ended when a suspect crashed in downtown Birmingham. An Alabama Media Group report said the chase lasted for nearly half an hour.
Det. Sgt. Michael Mangina of the Irondale Police Department said the incident began with a routine traffic stop just before 10 a.m. Monday. The driver of the vehicle — which had an expired tag — attempted to elude police, and in the process hit multiple cars.
Mangina said three suspects were in the vehicle that crashed on 5th Avenue South downtown. The male driver was handcuffed and taken into custody while the other two suspects in the vehicle were taken to nearby hospitals with serious injuries.
