Police Investigate Fatal Shooting On Oporto-Madrid Blvd.
The victim in the Wednesday shooting has been identified as 29-year-old Douglas Donate White of Birmingham.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Ehen Birmingham police arrived at a crash site on Oporto-Madrid Boulevard in east Birmingham, they likely expected some vehicle accident-related injuries, but what they discovered was that one of the victims of the crash had been shot. The large crime scene shut down a portion of Oporto-Madrid. Motorists exiting I-20 were being routed back on to the interstate.
Both drivers involved in the crash were taken to UAB Hospital, where the driver who had the gunshot wound died. The deceased victim has been identified as Douglas Donate White, 29, of Birmingham. The shooting happened before 1 p.m. East Precinct officers told Alabama Media Group that their initial information was that there was an exchange of gunfire between a car and an SUV traveling southbound on Oporto-Madrid. Reports said a man driving a white sedan was shot, crashed into another SUV and then came to a stop directly in front of the Interstate 20 exit and entrance ramps.
