Police Officer Charged With Forging Traffic Tickets

A Pleasant Grove police officer has been charged with several crimes involving the forging of traffic tickets.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A former police officer has been charged for multiple crimes surrounding allegations he forged traffic tickets while a member of the Pleasant Grove police force.

According to a report my Alabama Media Group, 47-year-old Lawrence Harrell, veteran police officer, was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury on Oct. 20 on 11 counts of second-degree forgery of traffic citations and one count of perjury, and surrendered to the Jefferson County Jail on Nov. 28. He was released two hours later after posting $60,000 bond.

All 12 of the charges against Harrell are Class C felonies. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of one year and one day to 10 years and a fine of up to $15,000 for each of the 12 counts.
