Police Seek Suspect In Armed Robbery Of CVS

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The Birmingham Police Department is trying to identify a suspect in a robbery of a CVS store on Gadsden Highway Tuesday.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said the incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. when the suspect entered the CVS at 220 Gadsden Highway. Upon entering the store, the suspect walked around the store for approximately 30 minutes prior to approaching the pharmacy, Mauldin said.

The suspect reportedly revealed a handgun prior to entering the pharmacy area, and Mauldin said the he then approached the pharmacist and demanded Xanax. The suspect managed to obtain a large quantity of prescribed drugs prior to exiting the store.

The suspect appeared to have a tattoo on his neck with cursive writing, Mauldin said.
