Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:
- On Mar. 29, the Birmingham City Council will host a public hearing to discuss proposed changes to the city’s council districts based on 2020 census data. The council hired Crimcard Consulting Services last month to lead the redistricting process, which is required each decade by city law. Crimcard presented proposed districts to the council on Feb. 14. after several individual meetings with councilors. (birminghamwatch.org)
- On Monday night, a Birmingham man was shot and killed in north Birmingham. The incident occurred just after 7 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of 33rd Street North. 26-year-old Joshua Isaiah Carpenter was found dead at the residence after reports of gunfire were received at the North Precinct, according to Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department. - Birmingham's Protective Stadium has been nominated to become the 2021 Stadium of the Year. The stadium opened in the fall and is among 23 stadiums throughout the world up for the honor. The Public Award is given out in an online vote, which is free for everyone but is limited to one vote per person (one per device). (Birmingham Patch)
