Rain-Soaked Wednesday Prompts Flood Watch
Heavy rain Wednesday and the expected continuation of rain throughout the state prompted a flood watch by the National Weather Service.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Heavy rain that began Tuesday afternoon continued in part of the middle of the state, and do not look to be letting up soon.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham issued a Flash Flood Watch for the Birmingham area Wednesday, effective until Thursday night.
It’s a wet morning for much of the area, unfortunately with not much improvement through the day. Heavy showers & thunderstorms are likely today, w/ greater chances in eastern AL. Flooding will be a threat in these areas. Remember flood safety! #alwx pic.twitter.com/ikbHQyPjYF

The NWS issued a watch for Birmingham, saying, "A steady stream of tropical moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and a series of upper level disturbances will combine forces to bring a prolonged period of off and on stormy weather to Central Alabama."

The NWS said repeated heavy rain from thunderstorms expected over the next two days may lead to flash flooding. The Flash Flood Watch in is in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday.
