Rain, Thunderstorms Expected For Birmingham Area
Thursday will be a wet and stormy day in Birmingham as the area sees remnants of Tropical Storm Beta.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — Alabama will see the remnants of Tropical Storm Beta Thursday, as rain and possible thunderstorms will hit the state for most of the day.
A flash flood watch is in effect for the Tennessee Valley of north Alabama, where rain amounts could exceed two inches in spots, according to the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
"A few storms south of I-20 this afternoon could produce gusty winds, and there is also the potential for one or two brief, isolated tornadoes," meteorologist James Spann said. "Just be weather aware today in case a few warnings are required. Severe storms are not expected over north Alabama because the air will be too stable. Rain will taper off from west to east tonight."
