MACON COUNTY, AL - A reality television star and her friend have been arrested in Macon County, Alabama, on drug charges. "Mama June" Shannon, best known for her appearance in "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" as the mother of the mother of Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, was arrested March 13.

NBC reported that Shannon and a friend, Eugene Doak, were arrested at a gas station in Macon County where Doak was reportedly heard threatening Shannon. The criminal complaint states the two were in possession of crack cocaine and a crack pipe.

Both are charged with felony drug possession and misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

“They’d been out there all night, having a good time, gambling and what not,’’ Brunson said.

Brunson said Shannon took responsibility for the drugs and drug paraphernalia since it was her vehicle, but both are charged with felony drug possession and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, which is a misdemeanor. Doak was also charged with third-degree domestic assault, also a misdemeanor, which required a mandatory 24-hour stint in the Macon County Jail. Shannon was released the same day of the arrests and Doak was released the following day, according to Alabama Media Group.

"Mama June” and “Honey Boo Boo” first came on the reality television scene in 2012 on TLC’s Toddlers and Tiaras. That led to a spin-off show, “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” which aired on TLC from 2012 through 2014. The show was cancelled after it was learned that Shannon was dating a registered sex offender.
