Record Highs Expected This Weekend In Birmingham
Forecasts show record high temperatures through Saturday in the Birmingham metro.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — While Birmingham residents are asked to shelter in place to curb the spread of coronavirus, some of the warmest temperatures of the year so afar are expeted to hit the metro area this weekend.
According to meteorologist James Spann, Friday will be partly sunny and very warm, with highs in the mid to upper 80s, which would reach record levels for late March.
"Most of the day Saturday will be warm and dry with a mix of sun and clouds; we rise into the 80s again," Spann said. "A cold front will push a weakening band of showers and storms into the state Saturday night. The Storm Prediction Center has the northwest corner of Alabama in a low-end marginal risk (level 1 out of 5) of severe storms with potential for strong, gusty winds."
