Retired Sheriff's Deputy Charged With Sexual Abuse
A former Jefferson County deputy was arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a minor under the age of 12.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — A retired Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy has been arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a minor. Richard Reid, who served with the JCSO for 30 years, was most recently employed as a contract Deputy in the School Resource Division.
Reid is charged with sexual Abuse of a child less than 12 and sexual abuse by force. These allegations were not affiliated with Reid’s work assignment during his employment with the Sheriff’s Office, according to Sgt. Joni Money.
