Sanitizing Stations Gifted To UAB To Help Prevent Coronavirus Spread

The University of Alabama at Birmingham continues to fight the spread of COVID-19, and now a gift of 2,500 sanitizing stations will help promote a clean, healthy community and combat the virus throughout campus.

Penny Pincher Promotions generously donated the sanitizing stations, valued at more than $620,000. Sharon Johnson, supervisor of Campus Services in the UAB Facilities Division, played a major role in securing the donation from Sarah Beisher, president of Penny Pincher Promotions.

“This donation will enable our campus to be healthier by providing our community members more opportunities to sanitize their hands,” said Greg Parsons, associate vice president and chief facilities officer at UAB. “We’re grateful to Penny Pincher Promotions for reaching out to supply these stations.”

The touchless, automatic hand sanitizer dispensers will be strategically located in high-traffic areas around campus and promote a safe way to clean hands, limiting contact with surfaces. The portable stations come with stands to allow for quick placement.

“UAB is committed to being proactive in safety during this time, and we will continue to do everything we can to keep our students, faculty and staff safe,” Parsons said.

Penny Pincher Promotions, located in Hoover, is an importer and provider of personal protective equipment and promotional items. The company is a proponent of stopping the spread of COVID-19 and promotes health and wellness by giving back to the community.
