School Delays: Flooding Causes Late Start For Area Schools

Due to flooding and hazardous weather conditions, many area schools are starting late Tuesday.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — With rain continuing throughout the evening Monday and into Tuesday, flooding and hazardous road conditions have prompted several area school systems to delay the school start time on Tuesday morning.

Here are the systems and schools delayed Tuesday:

  • Alabaster City Schools - 2-hour delay
  • Bessemer City - Delayed until 10 a.m.
  • Bibb County - Delayed until 9:45 a.m.
  • Birmingham City Schools - 2-hour delay
  • Blount County Schools – 2-hour delay
  • Homewood City Schools - Delayed until 10:30 a.m.
  • Hoover City Schools- Delayed 2 hours
  • Jefferson County Schools - 2-hour delay
  • Leeds City Schools - Delayed 2 hours
  • Mountain Brook Schools - 2 hour delay
  • Pelham City Schools - Delayed until 10 a.m.
  • Pell City Schools - Closed
  • Shelby County Schools - 2-hour delay
  • St. Clair County Schools - Closed
  • Tarrant City Schools - 2-hour delay
  • Vestavia Hills City Schools - Delayed until 10 a.m.
