Body Of Ruffner Mountain Hiker Recovered

Rescuers have recovered the body of a man who fell to his death while hiking on Ruffner Mountain.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A man who went hiking on Ruffner Mountain in Birmingham was reported missing by his family Thursday, and that concern was justified when it was discoverdd the man had fallen to his death at the quarry roughly a mile from the trail head. Police and fire departments from both Birmingham and Irondale were involved in recovery efforts, and at approximately 5 p.m., the body was recovered.

According to a report by Alabama Media Group, Birmingham firefighters were dispatched to the quarry area of Ruffner Mountain at 12:45 p,m. Birmingham police Lt. Pete Williston said the victim is an adult white male in his mid-30s.
