Here are the top three stories today in Birmingham:
- The National Weather Service has recently announced a weather system may bring strong to severe thunderstorms to Alabama later this week. The weather system comes after several days of dry weather in the region and is expected to bring heavy rain, up to 60 mph winds, and possible tornadoes to the area on Thursday. (Birmingham Patch)
- The Masonic Temple Building in Birmingham’s 4th Avenue Historic District will soon receive long-awaited renovations. The team behind the renovations, Historic District Developers, has plans to restore the Masonic Temple Building as the center of commerce for the 4th Avenue Historic District. The plans include options for retail, makers, office, event space, and more. (Bham Now)
- Early Friday morning, a Birmingham man died after crashing his car into the back of a tractor-trailer on I-59. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, 21-year-old Recardo Carleion Sizemore, Jr. was heading northbound on I-59 & I-20 near Midfield just before 2 a.m. Traffic began to slow and he drove into the back of a tractor-trailer. The cause of the crash is under investigation. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
