"Parts of the Southeast are facing what may be the most significant severe weather threat so far this year, with possible tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds this afternoon and evening," said Weather Channel meteorologist Carl Parker. "A potent upper-level disturbance and moderate to strong instability will support rapid storm growth, and dramatic changes in wind speed and direction with height will get the updrafts rotating. The areas of greatest concern are central Tennessee, northern and central Alabama and Georgia, and northeast Mississippi."
