Sheriff Mike Hale Discusses Opioid Arrests In Jefferson County

Jefferson County Sheriff Mike Hale discussed recent arrests involving the trafficking of opioids, a growing problem in the area.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Jefferson County Sheriff Mike Hale addressed citizens and media Tuesday to discuss recent arrests the department has made involving opioid trafficking, and what the department is doing to crack down on what is a growing issue all over the country.

Over the last four weeks the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics unit has arrested four men for trafficking or sale of illegal drugs such as heroin and hydrocodone. The four men arrested are Pierre Brown of Brighton, Carlos Roscoe of Birmingham, Edward Lawson of Palmerdale, and Deshaun Daniels of Center Point.

Brown was charged with Trafficking Heroin, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. Federal firearms charges are pending.

Roscoe was charged with Trafficking Hydrocodone, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. Federal firearms charges are pending.

Lawson was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana. Federal firearms charges are pending.

Daniels was charged with Trafficking Heroin, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.

Deputies seized heroin, hydrocodone, methamphetamine, ecstasy, cocaine, and marijuana as well as seventeen firearms and cash during these arrests. Hale has pledged to make the opioid crisis a top priority as he runs for re-election this year.
