Sheriff’s Office Assisting With Brighton Homicide Investigation

Sheriff's detectives are conducting a homicide investigation in Brighton at the request of the Brighton Police Department.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Jefferson County Sheriff’s detectives are conducting a homicide investigation in Brighton at the request of the Brighton Police Department. Shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Brighton Police Department to request assistance with a shooting investigation at a residence in the 100 block of Parker Springs Street.

It was reported that an adult male had been shot. Deputies arrived to find a 68-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound laying the front yard. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Early information is that the victim arrived home to find an armed intruder inside his house. The suspect shot the victim inside the home, and the victim reportedly fled to the front yard where he was found.
