Sheriff’s Office Receives Governor’s Award For Law Enforcement
he Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was nominated for and received the Governor's Award for Law Enforcement for 2017.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The People Against a Littered State held their 2017 Governor’s Award ceremony yesterday in Prattville, AL. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was nominated for and received the Governor’s Award for Law Enforcement for 2017. Since 2012 the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has supported People Against a Littered State's efforts to keep roads in the county litter free. Deputies participate in roadside cleanups and provide traffic control to keep volunteers safe.
n 2017 the Sheriff’s Office provided traffic control and assistance for the 1,534 volunteers who participated in just the unincorporated area litter cleanups along 215.25 miles of roadways. In addition, Sheriff’s Deputies assisted with cleanups held in various municipalities.
