Sheriff's Detectives Assist Brighton PD In Attempted Murder Case

A 15-year-old girl was shot in Brighton, and a suspect is now in custody after a joint investigation between Brighton PD and the JCSO.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Jefferson County detectives assisted the Brighton Police Department in arresting a suspect in a recent shooting. Ronnie Lee Williams Jr., 28, was arrested and charged in the recent shooting a 15 year old girl.

The shooting happened in the 100 block of Bessemer Avenue in Brighton. Williams is charged with Attempted Murder,with a bond set at $60,000; Reckless Endangerment with a bond set at$10,000; a second count of Reckless Endangerment, with another $10,000 bond; Endangering the Welfare of a Child, with bond set at $10,000 and a second count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child with another $10,000 bond.

The child is recovering at a local hospital, and the motive is unknown at this time. This offense is still under investigation, according to the Sheriff's Office.
