Sheriff's Office Investigating Domestic Violence Case

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic violence call in Sylvan Springs.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Jefferson County Sheriff’s detectives are conducting a domestic violence investigation in the 200 block of Oak Lane in Sylvan Springs where a 41-year-old man was shot by his wife.

Just after 8:30 p.m. Friday evening, deputies responded to a report of a woman shooting her husband at the dead end of the street. Deputies arrived to find the male victim dead on the scene. The 33-year-old woman remained on scene and was taken into custody to be questioned by detectives.

It is currently unclear what led to the shooting. The investigation is ongoing. Names are withheld pending notification of family members.
