Sheriff's Office Investigating Gambling Operation In Bessemer

BESSEMER, AL - After receiving complaints of an illegal gambling operation in Bessemer, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced detectives have launched an investigation. Over the course of a month, detectives developed information that an illegal gambling operation was located in a building in the 1500 block of 8th Avenue North in in Bessemer.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the address over the weekend. No one was present when deputies entered the building, but detectives seized 25 illegal gambling machines, cash and electronics. The investigation is ongoing and arrests are expected.
