Shooting In East Birmingham Leaves One Man Dead, Woman Injured

A man is dead and a woman injured after gunfire broke out in east Birmingham Tuesday night.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A shooting in east Birmingham Tuesday night left one man dead and a woman injured. The shooting occurred just after 11 p.m near the 6600 block of 1st Avenue South.

Birmingham police officers were conducting a traffic stop when they heard a commotion and then shots fired, according to an Alabama Media Group report. A male victim was pronounced dead on the scene. A female victim was taken to the hospital with lacerations from broken glass.

Officers were able to detain a suspect who is undergoing questioning. Authorities believe the shooting was domestic in nature.
