Shooting In Ensley: 18-Year-Old Victim Dead
A Thursday night shooting in Ensley resulted in the death of 18-year-old Javaruise Lerico Lewis.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — A shooting Thursday night in Ensley resulted in the death of a teenager. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 18-year-old Javaruise Lerico Lewis.
The incident occurred just after 8 p.m. inside an apartment in the 2900 block of 22nd Place West. Sgt. Johnny Williams said Birmingham PD's West Precinct officers responded about 8:20 p.m. to multiple calls of shots fired. When they arrived on the scene, the found two victims who had been wounded by the gunfire.
Lewis was reportedly found unresponsive and pronounced dead on the scene. The second victim was taken to UAB Hospital with injuries, and is expected to recover.

Williams said police do not have a suspect or a motive in the incident.
