Shooting In Ensley: 26-Year-Old Victim Dead
A man died after being shot in Ensley Friday night following a verbal altercation.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Birmingham police are investigating a shooting in Ensley Friday night, which left a 26-year-old man dead. The victim has been identified as Stephon Johnson of Birmingham.
Sgt. Road Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said the Birmingham Police Department’s West Precinct officers responded just after 10:30 p.m. Friday to a call of a person shot at 2915 Ave V. Upon arrival, officers discovered Johnson unresponsive in a front room suffering an apparent gunshot wound.
Mauldin said Johnson was transported to UAB Hospital where he later succumb to his injuries.

The investigation suggests that a verbal altercation occurred at the location of the shooting rior to Johnson being shot, Mauldin said. No suspects are in custody.
