Shooting On I-65 Injures 1 Victim, Suspect In Custody

A shooting that police say stemmed from an ongoing dispute led to a woman being shot while traveling on I-65.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A woman was shot in the foot while a passenger in a vehicle on I-65 Monday, the result of what police say was an ongoing dispute between two men. The woman's injuries are not life-threatening, authorities said.

Sgt. Johnny Williams of the Birmingham Police Department said a man fired a handgun into another vehicle while driving on the interstate Monday morning, and the bullet struck a female passenger. The driver then pulled into a gas station and called for help.

Williams aid the shooting suspect was taken into custody in Bessemer later in the morning. Charges are pending.
