Shooting In Tarrant Leaves Teen In Critical Condition

A 16-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting in Tarrant over the weekend, and the victim remains in critical condition.

TARRANT, AL - A shooting over the weekend in Tarrant has left a 16-year-old boy in critical condition at UAB hospital.

Tarrant police Cpl. Jay Jenkins told Alabama Media Group that shots were fired at approximately 5:15 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Alabama Street. The shooting appears to have stemmed from an argument but investigators don't yet know what started the dispute.

The suspect - an adult black male - was taken into custody about 9 p.m. at the Budget Motel on Bankhead Highway. He was being transported to police headquarters for questioning.
