Silvertron Cafe Closing After 32 Years

A family illness has forced the owner of Silverton Cafe to return to Italy, and to close the restaurant after 32 years in Forest Park.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - After more than three decades as a Birmingham restaurant staple, Forest Park's Silvertron Cafe will close.

Although they did not indicate a specific date, owners Marco and Elan Morosini wrote in a Facebook post that, "due to a serious illness in the family, the Morosinis are moving to Italy to help family in a time of need."

The post states, "The partnership which was created between the Neighborhood Association, and me as both President of the Forest Park South Avondale Business Association and Owner of Silvertron was rewarding, and we so appreciate all the members of both organizations."

Silvertron, located at 3813 Clairmont Avenue, got its name from a television repair shop that was previously located in the building. The building is currently owned by Chris Boehm, a former partner in the restaurant.

"We are sad to be leaving our wonderful neighbors. We have been witness to proposals, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, first dates, baby's first outings, a series of fabulous drag brunch performances, and weddings," the Facebook post states. "We are grateful to have been woven into the fabric of your daily lives, and will treasure the memories and friends made at Silvertron Cafe."
