BIRMINGHAM, AL - St. Patrick's Day is March 17, and the Birmingham area offers a bevy of events at which to celebrate the holiday. In addition to being a religious celebration - the Feast Day of St. Patrick for Catholics - it is also a cultural celebration for the Irish. Regardless of why people celebrate the holiday, there is no shortage of outlets by which to celebrate in Birmingham this weekend.
Here are just some of the events planned in and around Birmingham for St. Patrick's Day:
Five Points South St. Patrick's Celebration, Five Points South, Birmingham: The Five Points South St. Patrick's Celebration will take place March 14 - 17 in Birmingham's culinary district. Enjoy four days of Irish drink and food specials, an Irish flag raising, The Great Birmingham Irish Toast (Friday at 7 p.m.), The 39th Annual Irish dinner (Saturday at 11 a.m.), The 35th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade (Sunday, 11 a.m. - 11 p.m.).

St. Patrick's Day Murder Mystery Dinner Theater, Corbin Farms Winery, 800 County Road 87, Calera: Join Corbin Farms Winery for a St. Patrick’s Day themed murder mystery dinner theater on Saturday, March 16th. This event will begin at 7 and end between 9:30/10. Plan to arrive at 7 and stay for the entire event. The winery will be serving some Irish favorites at “the pub” as well as great wine. Tickets are are $54.67 and include a 3 course dinner and 2 glasses of wine.
Teeling Irish Whiskey Tasting, LeNell's Beverage Boutique, 1208 32nd Street North, Birmingham: Friday, March 15, come to LeNell's and sample the latest addition to the Irish whiskey collection. The tasting is free and begins at 5 p.m.
