BIRMINGHAM, AL — A stabbing Tuesday afternoon outside a Birmingham polling location resulted in an injury, but was not related to voting, police say.

The incident occurred just after 4:30 p.m. at Legion Field, where hundreds of people were lined up to vote in Tuesday's election.

A report by Birmingham police said two men were involved in an altercation, away from the voting lines, and one of the men stabbed the other. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries, police said.

The man who reportedly stabbed the victim fled the scene, according to police.
