Star 1 Helicopter Rescues Missing Person In Pleasant Grove

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office's Star 1 helicopter rescued a missing person with dementia in Pleasant Grove.

PLEASANT GROVE, AL — A missing person with dementia was rescued by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office using its Star 1 helicopter Thursday.

Deputy Chief David Agee of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the Jefferson County Star 1 Air Support Unit was in the air around 1 p.m. Thursday when pilot Jonathan Johnson heard police radio traffic about the search for a missing person suffering from dementia.

Johnson responded to the area near the 1400 block of 14th Court West in Pleasant Grove and was able to locate the missing person on a powerline in a nearby wooded area.
