Storm Update: Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Jefferson County

A Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Jefferson and Shelby counties, and the National Weather Service says tornadoes are possible.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Heavy rain Thursday night in the Birmingham area left some downed trees and wet roads Friday morning, but the rain is not over, according to the National Weather Service's Birmingham office.

The NWS issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning this morning effective until 9 a.m.

The report indicates that high winds may be the biggest threat for the area, and storms could produce hail up to an inch in diameter. Also, conditions could be favorable for a tornado later in the afternoon.
