Student Taken Into Custody After Terrorist Threats
A Pleasant Grove student was taken into custody Wednesday after social media posts threatening a school shooting.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A 13-year-old suspect has been taken into custody after posting on social media that he planned to bring a gun to Pleasant Grove High School. The student posted a photo of himself holding a rifle.
On January 29 at approximately 9:15 p.m., Pleasant Grove High School administrators notified the Jefferson County Sheriff’s School Resource Division that a student had made a social media post on Snapchat stating that he was going to "shoot up the school."
School Resource Officers took the child into custody at his residence at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday morning. Deputies were able to locate and take possession of his weapons.

The Sheriff's office reported that there is no threat to the school at this time, and that prosecution will proceed through Family Court.
