Suspect Arrested In Death Of 1-Year-Old Boy

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Fairfield man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 1-year-old child. Christopher Eugene Knight, 35, was arrested Thursday and charged with murder after 1-year-old Jayden McGee died March 10 from injuries sustained the night of March 7.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said the child was in the care of Knight, at the time the child's injuries occurred. Knight alerted the mother that the victim was unresponsive, but refused to call 911, police said.

Knight is charged with capital murder and is in custody at the Jefferson County Jail.
