Suspect Arrested In June Homicide In Birmingham

A suspect has been charged in the shooting death of a 42-year-old man in a Birmingham neighborhood last month.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A suspect has been arrested and charged with a murder that occurred last month. Birmingham police on Sunday announced the arrest of 33-year-old Jeremiah Lorenzo Rapley. He is charged with capital murder in the June 14 murder of Demegious Osborne.

The shooting happened just after 3 p.m. June 14 in the 900 block of Ninth Street North. Authorities said it appeared Osborne was sitting in his vehicle when he was approached by another man - now identified as Rapley – and some kind of exchange took place which led to the gunfire. According to an Alabama Media Group report, Rapley took money from Osbornebefore the suspect fled the scene.

Rapley was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 8:42 a.m. and remains held without bond.
