Suspect Charged In Death Of Birmingham Teacher

A murder warrant has been obtained against a 27-year-old suspect in the death of Orlando Robinson.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A man has been charged in the shooting death of a Birmingham elementary school teacher. Brandon Taylor, 27, has been charged with murder in the Nov. 3 death of Orlando Robinson.

Sgt. Johnny Williams of the Birmingham Police Department said investigators also obtained a discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling warrant against Taylor. He is being held at the Jefferson County Jail.

In the Sunday afternoon shooting, officers from the South Precinct responded to a call of shots fired in the 700 block of 1st Street South and found Robinson lying in the street unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The Jefferson County Coroner's office pronounced Robinson deceased on the scene. South Precinct officers said Taylor had been involved in an altercation with Robinson before the shooting.

Robinson was a second grade teacher at West End Academy.
