Suspect In Custody After Allegedly Shooting At Officer
A female suspect is in custody after a Birmingham PD officer said she fired shots at him.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A suspect is in custody after Birmingham police say she fired shots at an officer during a suspected burglary attempt. The incident happened about 10 a.m. in the 100 block of 68th Street North.
A report by Alabama Media Group said an East Precinct officer was trying to take a burglary suspect into custody when he heard gunshots nearby. Sgt. Johnny Williams said the officer located the black female shooter who he believed was firing in his direction. He requested backup and as other officers were en route to help him, he was able to take the shooting suspect into custody without injury to him or her.

The female suspect is being held while detectives work to obtain warrants against her. Her name is being withheld until formal charges are filed.
