Suspects Lead Police On Chase Through Southside, Still At Large
A police chase stretched from east Birmingham to north Birmingham, and the suspects were not apprehended.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — Police chased two suspects in a stolen vehicle Monday, a chase that caused two wrecks and an injury, yet the suspects were able to avoid arrest.
An East Precinct officer reportedly ran the tag on a red Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and learned it had been reported stolen. When police tried to pull over the truck, the driver fled the scene, according to an Alabama Media Group report. Initial reports were that there were four occupants inside the truck but that has not been confirmed.
The pursuit continued through north Birmingham toward the UAB area, and the pickup truck ran a red light and a police car collided with a white BMW in the intersection of Fifth Avenue South and 20th Street. The female driver of the BMW fled the scene but was located several blocks away.
