Tarrant Man Arrested After Police Chase
A Tarrant man led police on a chase - the second such chase in the last week involving the same suspect.
BIRMINGHAM, AL - A Tarrant man was arrested Monday after a brief police chase, the second time in just over a week police say he’s fled from them. Henry Nelson Jr., 22, was arrested on charges of attempting to elude, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence. Authorities say they believed he swallowed illegal narcotics during the chase in an effort to conceal them from police.
Tarrant police Monday morning tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation at Pinson Street and Elm Avenue, according to an Alabama Media Group report. The driver refused to stop, and lawmen pursued him for about five minutes before he finally came to a stop on 42nd Place at 51st Avenue in Inglenook.
In a similar incident a week ago, Nelson was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, attempting to elude, endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence. Investigators say he is believed to have swallowed heroin during that chase. He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail and released on bonds totaling $11,500.
