Teen Taken Into Custody for Heroin Trafficking
An 18-year-old male was found to be in possession of eight grams of heroin during a morning traffic stop.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - An 18-year-old man was found by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department to be in possession of eight grams of heroin during a morning traffic stop Thursday. Just after 9:00 Thursday morning, deputies stopped a Chevrolet Suburban for a traffic violation in the 1900 block of Center Point Parkway.
The male passenger gave false information about his identity to deputies. He was asked to step out of the SUV. When he stepped out he pushed a deputy and attempted to flee on foot. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle. A search of the suspect revealed two bags of heroin weighing approximately eight grams in total. The suspect was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he is held pending formal charges of Trafficking Heroin and Assault 2nd Degree.
