Thousands Without Power In Birmingham Metro
Severe thunderstorms have left nearly 60,000 people without power in Jefferson and Shelby counties.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Severe thunderstorms that swept through Central Alabama Thursday have left thousands of people without power.
Alabama Power has reported that 42,000 Jefferson County customers were without power Thursday night, and 17,000 Shelby County customers reported outages.
Heavy rain, lightning and strong winds came through the area at approximately 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon and had cleared out by 4:30 p.m.
