Here are the top stories today in Birmingham:

  1. A toddler was among two injured in a shooting on Tuesday around 12:30 a.m. Birmingham police officers were dispatched home in the 200 block of Tucker Avenue. Officers located a 2-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand and an adult male with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. (Trussvilletribune)
  2. A 63-year-old woman, Carolyn Cobb, who was missing from Birmingham since May was found safe on Tuesday in Andalusia. Police said she has been living in a motel for months. It’s still not clear how, and when, Cobb made her way roughly 180 miles south. (AL.com)
  3. The Birmingham City Council has passed a proposal allowing city police to extend an agreement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
  4. Birmingham's mayor acknowledged the seven people murdered in the city over the last three days and has asked the public to reform its crisis resolution. (WVTM13)
  5. The University of Alabama System has suspended its requirements for employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 after federal courts have blocked the Biden administrations’ mandates. (AL.com)
