Toys R' Us Store At The Summit Will Remain Open
After a renegotiation by the corporate office, the Toys R Us location at The Summit will remain open.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - After a renegotiation of lease terms, Toys R Us has announced it no longer plans to close its store at The Summit shopping center. The company released a report in January naming The Summit location and the Tuscaloosa location as stores that would close. The Tuscaloosa location is still scheduled to close.
Last fall, Toys R' Us filed for bankruptcy amidst sinking sales and increased competition from online retailers. Friday, officials with the company released a list of locations that will remain open after being previously slated to close. The list included the Birmingham location.
There have also been reports that complaints from customers at the Birmingham location to the corporate office might have played a part in saving the store from closure.
