Tuesday Shooting Claims Life Of 38-Year-Old Birmingham Man
A shooting in Birmingham Tuesday afternoon resulted in the death of a 38-year-old victim.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — A 38-year-old man is dead after a shooting in Birmingham Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of 2nd Avenue South.
Sgt. Rod Mauldin said officers discovered 38-year-old Devin Williams unresponsive lying in the street, suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue along with Jefferson County Coroner responded and pronounced Williams dead on the scene.
Mauldin said the preliminary investigation suggests the victim and another man were engaged in a verbal altercation which turned physical. During the incident, a second man on the scene reportedly shot Williams, Mauldin said.

Both of the men involved fled from the location in unknown vehicles, police said.
