Two Birmingham men who robbed an Alabaster gas station in June could get life in prison.
ALABASTER, AL - Two Birmingham men could face life in prison for their roles in an armed robbery of an Alabaster gas station in June. A Shelby County grand jury indicted 39-year-old Kevin Bray and 37-year-old Darryius Tompkins - both of whom list addresses in Birmingham - on one count of first-degree robbery apiece. Tompkins is set to appear in Shelby County Circuit Court on Oct. 3 for a preliminary hearing, while Bray will appear in Circuit Court on Oct. 2.
The charges stemmed from the armed robbery of the Med Center Shell station near Shelby Baptist Medical center off U.S. 31 in Alabaster on the morning of June 6. According to the Shelby County Reporter, Bray and Tompkins were arrested by the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force on June 12. A report from the Alabaster Police Department states that witnesses saw the two men enter the store with handgun and take money from the clerk at approximately 7 a.m. on June 6.
