Two Homicides In Birmingham Over The Weekend
The Birmingham area had two homicides reported over the weekend.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reported two ongoing homicide investigations from incidents that happened over the weekend.
Just after 7:30 Saturday night deputies were called to a home on Hudson Avenue in the Eastern Valley area to investigate a report of a shooting. Deputies arrived to find 66-year-old Janice Stamps suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to an area hospital where she died. Information from the scene indicates that the victim had been arguing with her brother. The brother pulled a handgun and shot the victim. The suspect, 62-year-old Thomas Hopkins, told deputies he shot his sister because she was yelling at him. He was arrested and charged with murder. Thomas Hopkins remains in the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $75,000.
Around 9 p.m. the same night, deputies responded to a report of a shooting on Darlene Circle in the Grayson Valley area. Deputies arrived to find an adult male with gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital where he died. Sheriff’s detectives Monday obtained an arrest warrant charging 26-year-old Clifford Montez Hinkle with the murder of 44-year-old Keith Derichard Duncan in this case.

Information at the scene indicates that Duncan and Hinkle were in some kind of argument and the suspect pulled a gun and shot the victim. Hinkle was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he remains with bond set at $100,000.
